If you’ve ever watched television, you have indubitably been exposed to commercials for pharmaceutical drugs. These days, there is a drug for everything from depression to sleep apnea; blood pressure to diabetes; even drugs that can either help you lose hair, or gain your hair!


Yes, there are as many different kinds of drugs as there are colors of the rainbow, but they all come with one similarity: side effects.

There is not a single pharmaceutical drug that you can buy that won’t come with some kind of negative side effect. Fix your blood pressure, but you’ll have crippling depression; fix your anxiety, but you’ll have an unsafe spike in blood sugar; solve your attention deficit disorder, but you’ll forever be at high risk for cancer the rest of your life.

But there’s nothing to be afraid of! Because there is one thing that you can do that can remedy, if not cure, most of the ailments that the human body can encounter through a given lifetime: Resistance Training.

The incredible benefits of resistance style exercise have been studied for the past few decades, and the results have been irrefutable. In addition to weight loss and improving muscle mass, lifting weights can reverse type II diabetes, lower blood pressure, improve sleep, increase energy, regulate hormone activity, improve mood, stave off dementia, prevent osteoporosis, improve sex life, improve mental focus, and the list goes on and on…

And, all of these life-improving elements come with ABSOLUTELY ZERO SIDE EFFECTS. That’s because your body is designed to adapt to the stress that you put on it inside the weight room, and makes the appropriate positive changes accordingly, without requiring chemical alteration through synthetic drugs! That’s not to say that you should completely ignore your doctor’s advice when you are terribly ill and need help (medical advances have also been made in the time that we’ve been researching exercise ha), but an active lifestyle that includes a heavy dose of resistance exercise can be your best bet to keep you out of the doctor’s office in the first place!

So put down that pill bottle, and pick up your dumbbells!
